The facility, which is known as “The Lodge” is designed to provide high tech services in a friendly and welcoming environment.  The name for the facility is drawn from the natural materials that will be the major building blocks of the design, and the informal style that makes each interior space warm and inviting.  With a total bed capacity of 160, the facility serves this number of patients with a full compliment of areas.  The facility will serve short term, long term and Alzheimer patients.  Rooms with ventilator equipment will be provided.  A full service kitchen supplies the dining room, which can accommodate up to 85 guests per seating.  The facility also includes multiple nursing stations with visual oversight of the entrances to all patient rooms, and a full service physical therapy facility.  Instruction in Activity and Daily Living can be accommodated in a specially designed suite in this area of the facility.  Physical therapy for restorative exercise and cardio/vascular treatment will be offered in a state-of-the-art fitness/physical therapy suite.  The building also houses a full scale commercial laundry.  To ease operations and management, building services are provided in a plenum placed in the attic that allows for the operations staff to work on electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment and ductwork outside of patient areas.  The buildings are designed around two courtyards that are designed to provide protected areas for patients to enjoy the outdoors.  For those patients that cannot go outside, an enclosed pavilion is provided to allow for an easy to access area that has lots of natural light and views.  All patient rooms have views to the exterior, either to the courtyards or other areas of the site.  All patients have access to an activity building that includes a grille, game room, reading/TV lounge and hairstyle studio.  A screened wrap around porch is provided for the enjoyment of temperate days during any season.
