Historic Renovation

Cornelia Senior & Community Center

This adaptive reuse restoration and renovatation of a historic and important downtown landmark,  transformed this building into a senior and community center.  This facility is re-designed to provide a variety of spaces both studio and performance for use by local theater and dance groups, as well as the fine arts.  The building exterior, which has been “modernized”, will be returned to much of its original and historic appearance.

Pulaski County Board of Education

This historically accurate adaptive reuse renovation was awarded a 2010 Excellence in Rehabilitation Award from The Georgia Trust.  Placed on the most endangered list of the Georgia Historical Society in 2007, this historic building was in danger of ending its useful life until the local Board of Education determined to fully renovate the 63,000 square foot structure for a new mission.

Houston County Government Center

The renovation of this 27,000 square foot facility provided the initiative for the downtown revitalization of this traditional southern county seat town. The exterior of the building maintains its historic character while receiving new energy efficient glazing systems, and standing seam roofing. Custom glazed brick, selected 50 years ago, was successfully matched and significant areas of weathered brick and mortar were replaced.

Unadilla City Hall

Constructed in the early 1900’s as a cotton warehouse, this building also served as a Chevrolet dealership.  JMA developed a program, which includes the functions of the City Government and a 4,000 sf community center.  The character of the existing building was restored to reflect its appearance in more prosperous times.  The interior structure, electrical and HVAC systems were replaced with current technology, enhancing the building's value into the future.
